Brian began his career as a clinical psychologist before moving into more academic and industrial roles as a researcher for the pharmaceutical industry. Today, Brian dedicates his time to learning about natural cognitive enhancement. He is the current editor of VAGA; a learning resource about natural biohacking. VAGA covers cognitive enhancement, sleep hacking, gut health, and general health and performance enhancement. Brian oversees all of the research done by the VAGA team, and he regularly publishes content himself, from advice articles to supplement reviews.
More about Brian Johnson
Brian is a psychologist by training. He was always intrigued by the human mind, how the brain works, and the various ways we have found to augment it. As a young man he became intrigued with the possibilities being opened up by psychoanalysis; the idea that therapy could produce far better results than drugs when treating psychological issues was only just becoming accepted. Brian eventually decided to study psychology, specializing in clinical psychology.
He then went on to spend the bulk of his career involved in academic research, rather than in private practice.
But eventually Brian became tired of the stolid atmosphere of academic psychological research. He watched as the concept of bio-hacking seeped into everyday life, with an increasing number of people, from all walks of life, embracing the idea of enhancing humanity itself through biological manipulation. Deciding it was better not to miss the boat, Brian decided to leave academia and try to create a resource to help bio-hacking gain traction in the “real world”. The result of that decision is Vaga.org.
VAGA is supposed to be a free, informative, unbiased resource for people who want to learn more about bio-hacking. While the site is the brainchild of Brian Johnson, and although the bulk of the research that goes into VAGA’s content is done by Brian, this site is about you more than anything else. We want to give you information that will help you get more out of your body and your mind.
